Packing supplies - Unique Packing Supplies You Should Consider

When shopping for moving supplies it's easy to remember the basics; boxes, tape, bubble wrap. But before you head to the store, take a look at the list below for packing supplies you probably didn't even know were available. They could come in quite handy, especially for long distance moves where your belongings would need more attention than on a local move.

  • Lamp Box- These are typically 12x12x40 in size. They are perfect boxes for lamps, telescopes, golf clubs or any other long, odd sized item.
  • Electronics Box- These are usually 12x12x8 in size. These narrow boxes are perfect for DVD/CD players, stereo receivers, speakers, etc.
  • Laptop Box- Typically 17x17x8 in size. These boxes have a slot for the laptop with cardboard inserts to separate the cables and to provide protection from hard impacts.
  • Picture Box- These are available in different sizes. These can be used for pictures, mirrors, bicycles remove pedals and handles) or other narrow items. They will have either a foam bumper insert or double corrugated walls for protection.
  • Wine Bottle Box- These boxes have Styrofoam inserts cut out into the shape of a wine or champagne bottle that will hold the bottle securely while being shipped. There are kits available that will hold up to 12 bottles in one box.
  • Poster Tube- These are triangle shaped boxes that are available in various sizes. You can ship one or more posters by rolling and then inserting them into the tube.
  • Glass Packer Box- These boxes are designed with inserts to separate glasses, stemware, porcelain, etc. There are foam pouches (usually sold separate) to individually wrap each item and then place in the individual inserts in the box.
  • Mattress Box- These are available according to the bed size (even crib size).
  • Carpet Shield- This is available by the foot. It is ideal for protecting new carpet from getting dirt and stains and from heavy traffic going in and out while moving.
  • Quilted Pads- These are available in different sizes and qualities. They are a must have if you are moving long distance. These pads will protect your furniture from getting scratched due to shifting of items while in transit.
